PROJECT 2
Detroit Athletic Club Business Center
Construction Management
City Contracting Services demolished the existing business center along with adjacent meeting and storage rooms to create the sophisticated yet functional updated space. New HVAC, Electrical, Flooring, Wall Coverings, Custom Millwork, Glazing and New Furniture were all apart of this transformation. Private phone booths with acoustical wall panels and custom vinyl decals of the original Albert Kahn DAC Drawings line the south end of the space. A new state of the art conference room perfect for offsite meetings, business roundtables, and member discussions was also created as a result of the renovation.
The adjacent library maintains its historic look and feel from when the Clubhouse originally opened in 1915. It features several designs, such as wall sconces, created by E.F. Caldwell and Company for the Clubhouse opening in 1915. Original plaster moldings were replicated and repairs to existing moldings were completed to ensure the transition from the Business Center to the Library are flawless.
The beautifully-remodeled DAC Business Center and restored Library are an important Clubhouse amenity available throughout the day and evening as a courtesy to Club members and guests. Since completion the usage of the business center has tripled!
